R & D Work in Mining

(Numerical Modelling and Mine Planning)

    • Assorted Mining Solutions LLP (AMS) has a dedicated Research & Development (R&D) wing that plays a vital role in enhancing mine safety, productivity, and scientific mine planning. The R&D wing focuses on applying advanced engineering techniques and analytical tools to optimize mining operations and ensure safe extraction of coal and minerals.
    • The team utilizes advanced numerical modelling techniques such as Finite Element Method (FEM), Finite Difference Method (FDM), and Discrete Element Method (DEM) to simulate underground conditions. These methods help in analyzing stress distribution, strata movement, and ground stability prior to actual mining operations.
    • The R&D wing supports projects in key areas including pillar design, panel layout optimization, and determination of safe cut-out distances, ensuring stability of underground workings. It also contributes to the selection of suitable depillaring methods, design of roof support systems, side reinforcement, and evaluation of strata behavior.
    • AMS’s R&D team is actively involved in preparing Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) and technical documentation required for statutory approvals such as Environmental Clearance (EC) and Forest Clearance (FC). Detailed geological and geotechnical assessments including Rock Mass Rating (RMR), Rock Quality Designation (RQD), and Seam Strength Ratio (SSR) are carried out to support scientific mine design.
    • The R&D wing also undertakes advanced gas studies and strata monitoring, including gassiness determination, installation of gas monitoring systems, and deployment of strata monitoring instruments. Continuous monitoring helps in mitigating risks such as roof falls, gas explosions, and ground instability.
    • AMS is further strengthening its R&D capabilities by integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) technologies. These tools are used for predictive maintenance, production forecasting, anomaly detection, and real-time monitoring of equipment and strata conditions, enabling proactive decision-making and improved operational safety.
